Q: I have my home number (and cell too) on the do not call registry. This phone number calls me literally up to 20 times per day on my cell phone. The number is 800-304-3100. Apparently they are a mortgage company. They have never left me a message, and when I try to call back there is an automated message asking me to enter in my account number, address, or tax ID number. I DO NOT have a mortgage nor have I ever had one. There is no way to actually speak to anyone. If you enter in your address (or phone number), the message says that it's invalid and then it disconnects me. I have tried to call them back on many, many occasions, only to get no where. I am frustrated. My gut tells me this is some sort of scam. I don't want to change my phone number, and I have called verizon wireless to discuss with them my problem. They said aside from changing my number, I could block all my incoming calls. They don't block just one number. Is there something else I can do?
A: You phone service provider may have feature called call blocking or barring. Check the setup menu on your cell and see if have the feature. You can block incoming calls from specific phone numbers. If it's not a feature on your phone check your cell provider and see if they offer it.
