Q: 1.its INSIDE a jvc receiver (RX-6010V) 2.its mounted on a horizontal board on the base of the receiver 3.it appears to be metal, rather than plastic 4.its located in the rear center of the receiver 5.it is NOT cylinder shaped 6.i am an electrical idiot, however i know it is NOT a chip 7.there are a total of 7 of them in the same general area 8.4 are back to back/ then the other 3 back to back 9.ALL 7 are identical in shape, size, and color 10.SHAPE=like a rack heavy duty staples on their side w/o the individual grooves 11.SIZE=1" high off the board. roughly 12.ea has a cooper/brass colored philips head screw threw it 13.while examining I "think" I have just discovered your best clue, ea is mounted in a slot marked "E C B" 14.receiver is functioning except for SOUND. I believe 2 of these 7 "parts" are responsible 15.the screws on 2 have a burnt color and directly above them on the inside of the cover lies evidence of high heat/burn marks 16.these parts i refer to have no wire connections any educated guess would be more than appreciated
A: Those are most likely output transistors the ECB stands for emitter collector and base. It sounds like a TO22 package, but as you did not include the model number (that is clearly printed on these) I can only guess. Since TO22 packaging has approximately 30,000 parts manufactured currently, you will need to provide more detail on the whole set up. If that is the only damaged parts you could just try to mach the model and replace without the need for a schematic. Just remember to observe polarity as TO22's will vary the pins. You may be able to sub MOSFETS for these if you can find the correct value one.
